YouthBuild re-engages youth with their education and teaches them building trades. Homes First! is proud to partner with the local affiliate of this organization to ensure teens have completed their high-school education and have marketable skills for the future.
This project is possible because of a partnership with Wells Fargo bank who donated a property in the City of Tumwater which YouthBuild is remodeling into a clean and healthy home for a family. We expect the project to be ready for move in by the end of September 2015.
Homes First! is always exploring opportunities to bring more homes back into the affordable housing market and ways to partner with local jurisdictions, banks, and individuals to make it possible. For more information on how you can be a part of this effort, contact projects (at) homesfirst.org.
David, Oceann, and their three children were living in the Out of The Woods Shelter for five months when the opportunity arose for them to move into a single-family Homes First! home.
Tears were shed on the night we Welcomed them Home and stories were shared about the amazing community partnership that made this happy ending possible. Without funding from the Thurston County HOME Consortium and a mortgage from Olympia Federal Savings, this home would not be theirs.
Our other community partners, like Kevin Sparks from Farmers Insurance and the Red Team from Keller Williams Real Estate volunteered their time time to make the home beautiful.
Oceann is a stay-at-home-Mother who home schools her kids. David bicycles every day to Hawkes Prairie to work at the Xerox call center. This new, healthy, and affordable home means that this family can stay together and achieve the dreams they have for their future.
